Oak Flats

Oak Flats is bounded by Lake Illawarra and the Princes Highway. Oak Flats provides a neighbourhood shopping centre in Central Avenue for the convenience of residents and visitors. You can also relax with a drink or meal at the Oak Flats Bowling & Recreation Club and try an afternoon of some bare foot bowling.   Australian Cricket star Brett Lee played his first game for Oak Flats Rats. Oak Flats High School named their sports field in honour of Brett Lee who was a student of the school.

Each year Skiway Park Boat Ramp at Oak Flats comes alive for the Shell Cove Shellharbour City Festival of Sport Dragon Boat Races. Corporate and local community groups get together and race dragon boats on Lake Illawarra. It’s a really fun day for paddlers and is great for team building. Spectators can see all the action and cheer on the teams from the wharf. There are kids rides, sausage sizzle, drinks and ice cream to keep your energy up. Oak Flats Roller Skating Rink is located at 137 Industrial Road, Oak Flats and is proving popular with kids through to adults. With a choice of either blades and skates you can hone your skating skills. There are session times for disco, learn to skate and age group fun as well as pricing on the website. Skating is a great physical activity that can invovle the whole family.
