HARS Aviation Museum - Historical Aircraft Restoration Society Inc

Historical Aircraft Restoration Society is a 2018 Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Award Winner for top 25 museums in the South Pacific and top 10 museums in Australia.

Step back in time and immerse yourself in the history of aviation by taking a guided tour of the HARS Aviation Museum.

The unique tours allow you to see some uniquie historic aircraft including "Connie" Lockhead Super Constellaion, the airliner of the 1950's that conquered the world, you can get up close and personal with the Neptune Bomber, sit inside the cockpit of an F1-11 and many more. Tours are available 7 days per week from 10am until 2.30pm.

Have you ever wandered what it would be like to walk on the wing of an aircraft. Here at HARS you can do just that, Walk on the Wing of a Qantas Boeing 747, an experience not to be missed.

For anyone that loves their planes, you don't want to miss the Qantas 747 Exprience, where you get to see areas of the plane not accessable by the public, a must do experience at HARs. Advance bookings are required.

Once a month on the second Friday, Saturday and Sunday HARS take their aircraft out of the hanger onto the tarmac for thier Tarmac Days, making it a perfect time to get some fabulous photographs of the aircraft.



Step back in time and immerse yourself in the life of Australia's aviation history. You will have the opportunity to view some of the most amazing historic aircraft. The HARS staff are always keen to share their passion for historical aircraft and are on hand to answer any questions. They are sure to provide you with an insight into the glory days when these aircraft ruled the skies.

On display at the hangar they have the world famous "Connie" Lockhead Super Constellation. The airliner of the 1950's that conquered the world. Get close up and personal with two Neptune Bombers. Have your photo taken with "Felix" who proudly represents the Black Cat Catalina Squadron of the RAAF. Venture into the huge hangars to see the flying troop carriers of World War 2, the C47 Dakota.

The HARS volunteers are currently working on the restoration of a replica of the "Southern Cross". The "Southern Cross" was piloted by Sir Charles Kingsford Smith in 1928 making the first non-stop flight across the Australian continent and the first non-stop trans Tasman flight to New Zealand. The original "Southern Cross" is housed at the Brisbane Airport International Terminal in a climate controlled glass room of the Kingsford Smith Memorial hangar.

Photography is freely encouraged. A gift shop is located in the hangar to buy aviation souvenirs and memorabilia.
