This concert features inspirational works by composers who have overcome life challenges to create emotionally charged music. From the early 19thC English-African composer and violinist Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s “Novelleten No.1”, a brilliantly crafted piece showing the composer’s love for strings, to the deeply touching melody of Gerald Finzi’s “Romance”, you will be absorbed and delighted by this program. There will also be Benjamin Britten’s Simple Symphony for lovers of his music. Curated by Adrian Davis, Steel City Strings’ Acting Artistic Director, to reflect his own emotional connections to classical music, this concert begins with “Long Time Living Here” by Deborah Cheetham-Fraillon about Aboriginal cultural identity linked to country.
