Warilla
Warilla was named by the Progress Association, as a rearrangement of three syllables of 'Illawarra'.
Warilla is located adjacent to the ocean and Lake Illawarra and is a favourite spot for water based activities, recreation and holiday-makers. The golden stretches of beach attract families and popular activities including boating, surfing and fishing. The extensive shared pathways along the lake and beach foreshore are popular with cyclists, joggers and walkers.
Warilla is also home to a range of retail and commercial outlets as well as the Warilla Grove Shopping Centre.
Warilla Bowls & Recreation Club is known internationally for its World Indoor Bowls Tournament held each year at the club. It attracts players and supporters from over 28 nations. The games are broadcast on national television in Australia.
