Event Details

In this informative talk PhD candidate Ryan North from the University of Wollongong will discuss the changes that are happening in Antarctica due to modern climate change.

You’ll learn how melting ice in Antarctica will impact our local environment and coastline, even though the changes are so far away.

Ryan will provide details on the state of the ice sheet in Antarctica and present his PhD research, describing how he uses US Navy photos from the 1960s and modern satellite images to measure changes in the amount of ice over time.

Note: The Nature Talks in the Library program is coordinated by Shellharbour City Libraries in partnership with Shellharbour City Council’s Environment team. These free monthly Nature Talks are designed for adults and older children (8 years+) to hear from presenters involved in biodiversity conservation and research, nature photography and wildlife care.
