Speak your truth at Shellharbour City Libraries’ Open Mic Night.
What you’ll do:
Pick up the mic and share your talents with us and/or just sit back and listen as performers tell their stories. Then prepare to be blown away by our feature artist, Nicole Smede.
The Shellharbour City Libraries Open Mic Night is an ongoing event where beginners and seasoned performers can come together and share their poems, songs, jokes, stories, and so on in a warm and welcoming environment.
Performers will have 3-minutes each to perform. You can sign up to perform at the open mic at the door, or pre-sign up online through the following form:
Please note that musicians will need to bring their own instruments and amplifiers.
About the feature artist:
Nicole Smede is a multi-disciplinary artist of Warrimay/Birribay and colonial descent, living and creating on Wodi Wodi Dharawal Country. Proud of her heritage, a reconnection to ancestry, language and culture ripples through her work in voice, song, sound and poetry, exploring what it means to be ‘of Country’.
A versatile performer with experience spanning diverse genres, Nicole has performed, composed and recorded repertoire from classical, theatre, rock and contemporary music through to film, poetry, installation and sound.
